SERVING IN TANZANIA

We are now a family of 7! Thank you for your prayers over our family as we awaited the birth of our fifth child. Silas Daniel was born on March 16th, weighing 8lbs., 12oz.. He is healthy as can be and we are praising the Lord for this blessing!  Our older kids were so excited to celebrate his arrival, they threw him his first “birth” day party! Our family had been in Kenya after training awaiting the birth of Silas, but continued with prayerfully supporting their ministry and advancing in language learning during that time. AIM has asked us to attend language school after our Inbound team wraps up in July 2026. Prior to moving into a village, we will need to score at a certain level of Swahili in our assessments. We are in the beginning stages of planning to attend language school and what that looks like for our family.  While we desire to dive in, we also trust in God’s timing as we continue to work towards His calling with the unreached people of Mtoni in mind.

We are thankful for God’s provision in obtaining Silas’ passport and needed documentation to return to Kilwa Masoko in Tanzania where we returned in April.  Shout out to our team for taking two days to clean our home before we arrived! We are so thankful for their efforts as it made our reentry so much smoother. Because it’s been the rainy season, many things were and are moldy… and our floors and all surfaces in our house were very dusty. In the midst of “hard” things, there are also blessings… to name a few, last night Taylor bought me (Rebekah) 8 bottles of water so I could take a shower! A friend from the US who is in town visiting left us a care package to return home to… and our friends gave us warm welcomes today!  It was a blessing to be welcomed back in our church family and have prayer for little Silas as he joined the church community.

Praises and Requests:
  • Praise for Silas’ safe delivery!
  • Pray for the last few months of our training team, that we would shine Christ’s light in our neighborhood and beyond!

Ongoing:
  • For the Lord to continue leading us as we continue to prayerfully plan the next steps to take after our training year is complete, pursue language school, & moving into the unreached village of Mtoni.
  • Pray for a mobilized church! That the Christians in this region would take opportunities to share the love and truth of Christ with their neighbors, co-workers, and friends.
  • For both of us to continue growing in our acquisition of the Swahili language.
  • For homeschooling to continue going well
  • For the funds for a family vehicle to be raised by July

The gospel story of Jesus touches us in whatever situations we are, with hurts and hopes as He calls us to follow His call. The calling of His early followers was full of mixed feelings, doubts and uncertainty, and messy places, so the lives of these New Testament people were challenged in unusual ways. Jerry Jenkins writes in a way you can almost see the drama, and although this book is not currently in our library, I encourage you to get it and be impacted by this well-written book. The familiar stories of the gospels come into real life, and it is good for our Western way of thinking to get a different perspective. Watching a drama is some people’s favorite way, and some of us appreciate the written word. Enjoy reading this book and be encouraged to be thankful for the amazing truth of Jesus coming to us.
